Update from Allegheny County Police Department:
Detectives have identified the driver of the vehicle in this incident as 25-year-old Saul Rivera-Ramirez. Rivera-Ramirez was taken into custody today and is charged with homicide by vehicle, accidents involving death or personal injury while not properly licensed and operating a vehicle without a license. He was taken to the Allegheny County Jail pending preliminary arraignment.
Previous Information: The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit responded to a request for assistance in Dormont.
At 10:42pm September 22, 2024, County 9-1-1 was notified of a vehicle striking a motorcycle near the intersection of Pioneer Avenue and West Liberty Avenue. First responders found an adult male motorcyclist critically injured. The victim was taken to an area hospital were he died. Detectives are initiating the investigation. Preliminary information shows the driver of the striking vehicle, a red Ford Taurus, along with a female and small child fled the scene on foot. Allegheny County Police Detectives and Dormont Police are working on identifying the individuals involved.
