Animals – the wild times of summer!

Join the Borough of Dormont Recreation Board for Movies in the Pool Lot! Bring your own chairs and blankets and claim your spot in the Dormont Pool lot!

Attendees:
– Please no bike riding or scooters, etc. during the movie for the safety of our attendees.
– All children under the age of 12 must have a parent present during the movie.

Easter Egg Hunt 2026

Traditional Easter Egg Hunt: 11:00 AM-11:45 AM
Sensory Friendly: 10:30 AM-11:00 AM

Let’s have a hoppin’ good time at the Dormont Recreation Board Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 12th from 11:00 am to 11:45 am. A sensory-friendly hunt by appointment only will also be held at 10:30 am. Bring a basket, hunt for eggs, and take a selfie with the Easter Bunny!

We ask that everyone follow a few friendly rules:

1) Please Dormont residents only
2) Please exercise restraint in collecting, there are plenty of eggs to go around but please leave some for others (the limit is approximately 10 eggs per child).

3) This event is intended for CHILDREN (12 and under). There will be a separate area for children 3 & under to hunt (in the small playground area). Please Dormont residents only.

4) Please clean up after yourselves and respect the park! *After the hunt, show your empty eggs at the pavilion and turn them in to be reused and you’ll be entered to win one of the prizes! Winners will be announced after the event (so there’s no need to wait) and prizes will be available for pickup at the Borough Building the week after the event.

5) Please do not arrive early as we need the area to be clear for set-up and hiding eggs.

Dormont’s Holiday Lights Tour 2025
Register to be on the Holiday Map by December 8

The Dormont Recreation Board is creating a map of all the best holiday light displays in town. Starting on December 14, the map will be live and you can cast your vote for the best holiday lights display!

Categories include Best Overall, Most Dormont Spirit, and Most Creative. Winners will be announced on December 28!

Trunk or Treat Spooktacular

Free Outdoor Yoga 2023

Free outdoor yoga in the park every Saturday in July from 10 – 11 a.m. at two of Dormont’s beautiful green spaces! Presented by the Borough of Dormont Recreation Board w/ class instruction by South Hills Power Yoga.

7/1 & 7/8 – Community Garden (1444 Hillsdale)
7/15, 7/22, & 7/29 – Lawn Adjacent to Castle Playground

These one-hour yoga sessions will move at a moderate pace so new students can learn the fundamentals of power yoga. This class will include transitions between standing, seated and reclined positions and may not be suitable for some with certain health conditions. Intensifications and modifications will be offered throughout the class. Do not hesitate to speak with the instructor if you have questions!

Class Information:
– All sessions are free and offered from 10 – 11 a.m.
– No preregistration
– Ages 12+
– Bring your own yoga mat or beach towel
– Check Borough website and social media pages for rain cancellation information.

Easter Egg Hunt 2023

Join the Borough of Dormont Recreation Board for the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 1 from 11am-12:15pm! This great family event will take place at the large pavilion in Dormont Park. Special appearance by the ever popular Easter Bunny.

Let’s have a hoppin’ good time! The Borough of Dormont Recreation Board and Dormont Fire Department presents the 2023 Dormont Mega Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 1st from 11 a.m. to Noon with a sensory-friendly hunt to follow from from Noon – 12:15 p.m. (by appointment). To register for the sensory friendly, please email Beth Bachman at BBachman@boro.dormont.pa.us or call 412-561-8900. We’ll be continually hiding eggs in the park near the large pavilion throughout the event. Bring a basket, hunt for eggs, and take a selfie with the Easter Bunny!

Cookies with Santa

Join the for Borough of Dormont Recreation Board for Cocoa & Cookies with Santa after the Dormont Holiday Parade on Saturday, December 3rd as part of the Home for the Holidays in Dormont 2022 event. We’ll be on Potomac Avenue passing out a cookie and free hot cocoa coupon to all kids while supplies last (first 150). Kids will also be able to get their photo taken with Santa! Please note, this will start around 11:00am as soon as Santa finishes his duties with the Dormont Fire Department Holiday Parade.
