Welcoming Week 2022 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Welcoming Week movement with a theme of “Where We Belong.” As we celebrate a decade of Welcoming Week, it is a perfect time to look closely at our community and explore ways to make Dormont the most welcoming neighborhood it can be, and in doing so, to get to know our diverse neighbors and the cultural richness they impart into our square mile of Pittsburgh. To bring together our neighbors of all backgrounds, build strong connections, and affirm the values of welcoming and inclusivity we are celebrating with a Multi-Cultural Potluck Dinner and Party on Sunday, September 18th from 6:00 – 8:00 at the Hillsdale Park. Bring food to share, a story to tell, an instrument or song to play, and/or anything else you would like to share with your neighbors to introduce your culture of origin. Please email email@example.com or come to the Borough Building to get more information and tell us what you’d like to bring.
“I’ve are beyond thrilled to celebrate the culmination of Welcoming Week by bringing back the tradition of Dormont’s “covered dish dinner,” this time as the outdoor celebration that will be the Multi-Cultural Party and Pot-Luck. We hope to see you there. Come ready to eat, to play, and most of all, to connect with your neighbors.” – Councilperson Ilene Dubin. Remember, no matter where you come from, Dormont is where we can all belong!
