County Police Investigate Shooting Incident |
Dormont, Allegheny County, PA – On October 14, 2022 at approximately 4:28 a.m., Dormont Police Department responded to a report of shots fired in the 2800 block of Broadway Avenue. Responding officers observed a vehicle fleeing from the scene. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on West Liberty Avenue but lost sight of the vehicle. The vehicle, a white Chevrolet Camaro, was found crashed on the Liberty Bridge near the ramp to the Boulevard of the Allies, within the City of Pittsburgh. Three of the vehicle’s four occupants sustained non-life-threatening injuries and are being treated at area hospitals. The fourth occupant was uninjured. There were no reported injuries resulting from the gunfire. Dormont Police requested the investigative assistance of the County Police General Investigations Unit.
Investigators learned that a confrontation occurred outside of a residence on Broadway Avenue, and there was a physical fight followed by an exchange of gunfire. After the shots were fired, multiple people fled the area, including the individuals in the white Chevrolet Camaro. An investigation is continuing, and detectives are working with the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office to determine culpability of parties involved in this incident.
