This notice is being provided to advise of the upcoming work on Potomac Avenue from Borough Engineer, Wayne McVicar.
Portions of Potomac Avenue will be closed the week of June 21st for remedial work. This closure is planned for Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:00 pm. Construction will commence at West Liberty and progress toward the “T” tracks as repairs are completed.
Initially Potomac Ave. will be closed from W. Liberty Ave. to Espy Ave. Once work is complete in this 2-block section, the closure will move to the section of the street from Belrose Ave. to Voelkel Ave. Uniformed police officers will be onsite to assist with traffic control. Whenever it is possible to close just one lane of traffic, these officers will permit alternating traffic. Activities planned for this closure are as follows:
• Resetting pavers along flush curbing to remove gaps.
• Resetting pavers in the Glenmore Ave. crosswalk.
• Repairing a sinkhole at Voelkel Ave.
I am hoping to have the construction crew move quickly up the street with the repairs, but from prior closures I understand that some businesses and/or doctor’s offices may have some special access needs during the closure. If you are a business or doctor’s office with a special delivery or patient drop off need, please reach out to the officers on the street, or call the police dispatch number (412) 561-8900 X300. They will assist in getting you to your destination.
The Borough will be working to minimize disruptions to your daily life and on behalf of the Borough, I thank you for your patience and support during this repair project.
