Borough of Dormont Council passed a resolution on Monday, June 4 celebrating our LGBTQ+ family, friends, neighbors, and business owners, all of whom help make Dormont a wonderful place to live, work, and raise a family. The month of June is recognized worldwide as “LGBTQ+ Pride Month” to commemorate the Stonewall riots in New York City, considered to be a turning point in the fight for global LGBTQ+ equality. “LGBTQ+ Pride Month” highlights the work, struggles, accomplishments and challenges of LGBTQ+ individuals in the Borough of Dormont, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and beyond.
The Borough of Dormont affirms that everyone deserves to live without fear of prejudice, discrimination, violence, and hatred based upon gender identity, gender expression, or sexual orientation. This Pride Month we recognize the valuable contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals in our community and across the country, and we reaffirm our commitment to standing in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ neighbors in their ongoing struggle against discrimination and injustice.
