Summer Camp Staff

Dormont Summer Camp Director – Bridget Curry
From Bridget – “I have worked in many facets of education for over 20 years. I have a B.S. in marine biology, an M.S. in molecular biology, and an M.A.Ed. in curriculum and instruction. Though my “day job” has me teaching high school kids, it has been my joy for over a decade to work running summer camps for elementary kids. I am passionate about helping make children into well-rounded and well-educated adults!”
Assistant Summer Camp Director – Meg Geronimos
From Meg – “I just graduated from Shippensburg University with a degree in English Secondary Education. While my days have been with 9th grade students in my student teaching, I enjoy working with children of all ages. I grew up in Bethel Park, but Dormont is a second home to me, since my Dad grew up here, and we make frequent visits to my grandmother’s. In my free time I love to read, bake, garden, and listen to music. I also have experience coaching dance and baton twirling. I look forward to meeting you!”
Assistant Summer Camp Director – Emily Hughes
From Emily – “Teacher of tall(er) children. Passionate about the power of language. Running on one too many cups of coffee. Excited to start a great summer!”
Camp Counselor – Oliver Brooke
I’ve lived in Dormont for roughly 10 years. Some of my hobbies include hanging out with friends, listening to music, performing, video games, and spending time outside. I’m excited to enter my second year here as a camp counselor!
Camp Counselor – Carrie Cunningham
From Carrie – “I am currently in graduate school to become a School Counselor and have a B.S. in Recreational Therapy. I enjoy the outdoors and sports. I am passionate about helping children and making a difference.”
Camp Counselor – Simon Driver
From Simon – “My name is Simon, and I’m from New Mexico, where I recently completed my B.S. in Genetics and in Biochemistry. I am starting as a graduate student in chemistry at Duquesne University this fall to continue my passion for science. Over the years, I have helped kindle an interest in science for K-12 students and college students alike, whether in formal classes or in after-school programs, and enjoy helping students find joy in science and the world around them!”
Camp Counselor – Derrick Ford
From Derrick – “I am currently a student at Slippery Rock University as a Marketing major . This will be my 2nd year as a Camp Counselor, though first at Dormont. I enjoy this because it allows me to be a positive role model to kids. I do like to play sports, have fun and laugh, so I would like to say, “I’m the cool one!””
Camp Counselor – Margaret Rodgers
From Margaret – “Greetings! I am a rising senior in the School of Education at Duquesne University. My degree will be in Elementary Education. Presently, I work part-time at the YMCA Duquesne University Child Development Center downtown and am the Head Student Equipment Manager for Duquesne University Football. This will be my second year as a summer camp counselor and am really looking forward to experiencing the growth of the campers through an energetic, fun, and stimulating summer program!”
